Lasagna is my family’s favorite dinner recipe..Even I love cooking lasagna..I have already posted three lasagna recipes..I think now you can understand how much I love Lasagna..The first lasagna recipe was a true blend between the veggies cooked with Indian spices and minced chicken cooked with Italian spices.And the lasagna tasted awesome with two different tastes in each layer..If you want to see the recipe, here is the link to Indo -Italian Fusion Lasagna with Chicken and Veggies.
And the second one was a Mini Pot Shrimp Lasagna which also came out well..And the latest one was Chicken Ravioli Lasagna.. So here is a beef- spinach lasagna with a new taste..Cajun Spice!! I love adding cajun spice to my food.. Cajun Spice is one spice powder which I always need in my kitchen pantry.It just adds extra taste to your food.. If you have not tried it yet, please do give a try..You will love it..
Another benefit of this recipe is that your little picky eater may eat spinach without any objection.It worked with my little one.. So I am super happy.
Now let’s check the recipe:
- Minced Beef- 500 grams
- Spinach- 1 small bowl
- Lasagna sheets- 10 ( boiled in water with few drops of olive oil )
- Onion- 2 ( finely chopped)
- Garlic- 6 cloves ( finely chopped )
- Ginger- 1/2 inch piece ( finely chopped)
- Tomato paste- 1 packet
- Cajun Spice powder- 2 spoon
- Red chilly powder- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper powder- 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chilly flakes- 1 spoon
- All purpose flour- 2 spoon
- olive oil – 4 spoon
- Mozzarella cheese- 2 cups or as per your need
- Water/Milk- 1/2 cup
How to make:
1)Heat a pan, add 2 spoon oil ,then saute half of the garlic and ginger for few minutes..To this add chopped onion and stir gently..
2)Now add all the spice powders except red chilly flakes, along with salt. Mix all things together.Add tomato paste to this spice mix and stir again for few minutes.Add more salt if needed.
3)Now let’s add the key ingredient-Beef Keema. Saute it well with the spice mixture and add more spice powders or salt if needed.Cook this for at least 8-10 minutes.When the beef keema is cooked, off the flame.
So our Cajun spiced beef filling is ready..
4)Now we are going to prepare the Spinach filling in white sauce.Heat a pan, add 2 spoon oil.. Add the rest of the ginger and garlic. Saute well in the oil till it becomes slightly brown. To this add red chilly flakes. Mix it well.
5) Now reduce the flame and slowly start adding the all purpose flour to the pan. Stir it without any gap.
6)To this add milk or water and stir nicely with the spatula so that it becomes a smooth sauce without any lumps. Now to this add the washed spinach leaves along with some salt.Mix all together and let the spinach gets cooked in the white sauce at low flame.
7)Once the spinach is cooked ,add a handful of mozzarella cheese.Off the flame after 2 minutes.
So now the spinach cooked in white sauce is also ready..
Let’s start the lasagna layering now..Keep all the ingredients ready..
8)Take a rectangle shaped baking tray and spread olive oil inside. first place 2 lasagna sheets and then spread a layer of cajun beef filling all above the sheet evenly..then spread a handful of cheese over this..
9)Now place 2 more lasagna sheets over this and spread another layer of spinach cooked in white sauce. again sprinkle a handful of cheese. Then place another 2 sheets.And repeat the process till it reaches the top of the tray.
10)Over the last layer of lasagna sheet, spread the leftover beef filling and spinach filling above this and spread the cheese all over evenly.( I added only beef filling as my white sauce finished) Now bake this for 15-20 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degree.
