French Macaroons with Strawberry Jam
Eid Mubarak to all.. Wish you all a Happy Eid..So here is my Eid dessert!!
Macaroons!! I have never thought of making macaroons at home some day !! It was another cooking dream of mine.. I had my first macaroons from Lenotre Qatar..and it was so yumm.. was actually melting inside mouth and I loved the crispiness..
As it was my first trial, I followed a YouTube video for the proper instructions by SWEETCOOKIEPIE. Do check her YouTube channel for more yummy treats.. Made the macaroon filling according to my family’s wish..
So here is the recipe:
- Icing sugar-1 cup
- Almond powder-3/4 cup
- Egg white-of 2 eggs
- Red color- 2-3 drops
- Granulated sugar-1/4 cup
For strawberry jam
- Sugar-1/4 cup
- Fresh strawberry-1 cup / a handful ( chopped)
- Water-1 cup
( NB: Parchment paper and piping cone is needed for the recipe. with this quantity you can make 18-20 macaroons)
How to make:
1) first of all sieve the icing sugar and almond powder to a bowl and whisk gently..and Keep it aside..
2)in a bowl, start beating the egg white gently..later add half of the granulated sugar and increase the beating speed.. When the egg starts bubbling, add rest of the sugar and beat in high speed till it becomes fluffy.. It took me almost 10 minutes to reach the thick whipped cream like consistency..
3)now add the food color and beat to another 2-3 minutes so that the food Color gets mixed well with it..
4)now add the dry ingredients ( that is almond powder and icing sugar mixture) to the cream in batches..then gently mix it together with the spatula.. Then add all the dry ingredients and mix well..
5)now let’s start filling the piping cone with the macaroon mixture.. In a baking tray place the parchment paper above the macaroon shape printed paper..now squeeze the batter above the circles in shape and bang the baking tray on a plane surface to remove excess air bubbles from it..later remove the printed paper from beneath..
6)now let it cool in room temperature.. Say at least half an hour so that even when we touch, it shouldn’t be sticky..
7)then bake this in oven for 12-15 minutes at 120 degree..
( the baking time and temperature completely depends on your oven!! for the first batch of macaroons, I followed the video instructions but it was not okay for my oven. So for the second batch I adjusted the temperature and timing accordingly)
8)after 12 minutes check the macaroons and off the oven if it is done.. Let it cool in room temperature..
My macaroons were really delicate and crispy.. I don’t know is it good or bad🤔!! i think i didn’t fill much in the parchment sheet..may be next time i need to do it more..
9) now let’s prepare the strawberry jam.. Click the link for the Strawberry jam recipe..and keep it in refrigerator for at least 10 minutes to get thick consistency..
10) once the macaroons are cool, remove them Carefully from baking sheet and spread the jam on any one surface and sandwich it with another one!!
So macaroons are ready!! It was a great experience to bake these cute little macaroons with homemade jam..
May be soon I will post more macaroon varieties.. Especially multicolored ones..
